Frequently Asked Questions
Are Children's Aid Societies Government Agencies? Absolutely
not! every singe one of Ontario's 53 Children's Aid Societies are
non-government organisations (private corporations) just like a fast food restaurant.
Are you trying to close down Children's Aid Societies?
No,
sadly Child Protection service are required but what we are asking
is Government pass legislation to allow independent oversight or take control
of Child Protection
Services.
Does the Children's
Aid do anything good? Probably, but without Ontario Ombudsman Oversight or criminal
investigations the general public will never know who is or isn't
good. You can read the
Canadian Incidence Study of Reported Child
Abuse and Neglect – 2003
the data collected was from Child protection and related services so
take the information with a grain of salt.
Do they get paid commissions to take children? Better than that
they get a sizable, guaranteed salary most with full benefits and
full legal representation. The more Children they take requires more
workers giving them better job security. All they need to do is make
the Government believe on paper they are busy and in need. Plus,
other charities are throwing money at them without knowing or
bothering to find out if the allegations of abuse, abductions,
deaths or forced adoptions allegations are true. They also attempt
seizing valuable assets, savings, investments on top of forcing the
parents to pay fines and all court costs.
Hasn't Children's Aid been complaining lately about not having
money to protect children in need? Yes but they are well known
for easily spending tens of thousands of dollars fighting innocent
parents. And we all know what the Auditor General had to say about
the small audit of only four Children's Aid Offices.
The AG investigation resulted in damning
reports of including
misspending, purchasing SUV's, trips and gym memberships. You can
see what CAS did to correct things in
follow up report.
Also, just weeks after a
Northern Ontario Children's Society workers
held CAS crisis rallies claiming their deficit would
affect programs and camps the
CAS workers voted 90% in favour of a strike.
Where was that $211,000 destined?
Have Children's Aid Societies taken children away from good
parents? Yes, it's been proven in Ontario Courts that children have been taken from innocent parents the
true numbers are impossible to gauge until the Ontario Government
begins ordering criminal investigations followed by permanent
independent oversight.
Is taking children away from good parents child abuse? It most
certainly is! It's a form of emotional abuse and many professionals
feel its the worst form of abuse.
Can parents complain to the
College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers? No, while it
would bring some credibility to the Child Protection profession CAS
began the practice of using the title "Child Protection Worker" and
not using their titles social worker, social service worker,
registered social worker or registered social service worker to
circumvent accountability under the
Social Work and Social Service Work Act (1998)
that's main interest was public safety.
Isn't the Children's Aid accountable to anyone? Technically
under the
Child and Family Services Act
but we are unaware of any legitimate complaints being investigated.
Only if a child dies in care and/or the family has enough money to
hire private investigators, professionals, expert witnesses or begin
learning law themselves to file appeals and private charges can they
hope for justice. It's happened but it's rare for anyone to be able
to afford several hundred thousand dollars to mount a case.
What types of complaints are excluded from the CAS and CFSRB
complaint review processes?
The CAS and CFSRB review processes cannot consider:
• Matters currently before the courts or that the courts have
already decided
• Matters that fall under other decision making processes under the
Child and Family Services Act or the Labour Relations Act.
Please review the
Child and Family Services and Children's Aid
Societies Complaint Brochure.
We must assume everyone without physic abilities are at risk.
What can we do to stop this? Please
Call your local MPP
immediately! Demand they support accountability with Ontario's Bill
93. MPP's are very pleasant to talk to and It's exactly what your
MPP's office does for it constituents. The call will only take a ten
minutes and you'll be surprised at how easy it is.

The legislation we are seeking
was a private members bill first introduced as Bill 88, 2006 by Hamilton East MPP Andrea Horwath.
Then Dalton McGuinty prorogued the legislature in 2007. Andrea reintroduced the
Bill as Bill 93, 2008.
Well as promised for about a year now the McGuinty Government prorogued the
Legislature again on Mar 4, 2010. We are currently waiting for Andrea to reintroduce and as it stands only about 55 bills have been introduced for the current session.
Please contact Andrea Horwath for more information
What do I do if my MPP won't support
Bill 93 Ombudsman Oversight? That's a question
your going to need to ask yourself and inform all of your friends,
neighbours, family and the media. Who wouldn't want children from
innocent parents returned home, who wouldn't want accountability
over private corporations with more power than the police, with the
power of taking children and getting paid billions of Ontario's
taxes every year to do it? If your MPP refuses please send us a copy
of the letter and again tell everyone!
Are you associated with OACAS or the Children's Aid Society? NO
Can you help me with a Child Protection Case? No, we are not
lawyers and cannot offer any legal advise.
We would like to hear from any
OACAS or Children's Aid employee willing to blow the whistle by exposing
any criminal activity to help with criminal investigations.
